Are you out of the starting blocks for 2022? We are now into month two of the new year and many of you are off to the races, while others are still resting on laurels of last year. When it comes to your business, if something didn’t work as well as you thought during the past 12 months, it’s time to be out with the old and get re-energized with new learnings so 2022 is your year…the year your business reaches new heights.
If you know you want to change things up, but aren’t sure where to start, we have some ideas to help you get your business to where you want it to be in 2022.
Understand where you have had success and made an impact
It’s highly unlikely that your entire business plan was a failure in 2021. If it was, you would have no business to build on in the new year. Look back at what areas were a success and how you achieved them. You might be able to use some of those tools in other areas that could use some help.
Look at the impact you made. Did it reach your goals or perhaps, did it generate new opportunities that you had not previously thought of? Are there areas that need work? How can you leverage what worked well to expand the business and carve out new market share? As we like to say, “Soar with your strengths and manage your weaknesses.” Be sure to acknowledge your small victories as well.
Knowing where you had success and knowing where you need to further evaluate and improve will be the building blocks to move forward.
Assess your competitors to understand market opportunity
We all know that the business landscape has changed due to the pandemic, among other factors. These things have revamped the way many do business. It’s important to change with the times. Take a look at your market landscape in the now, not what you remember it to be a year or two ago.
Part of knowing the market opportunity is being aware of what the competition is doing…especially if they’re crushing it. They’re doing something you’re not, so you need to figure out what it is and how to do it differently and better. This may take some time and research, but the effort will be well worth it in the end. During the process, you’ll likely discover some untapped resources that can help to get your business to where you want it to be.
Look at beliefs that are squashing potential
You may not want to admit it, but you could have some long-standing beliefs that are squashing your business potential, possibly even your personal potential. One of these beliefs may be not trying something new “because that’s just not what we do”. You may be stuck in your old ways of doing things that are creating roadblocks for what you can accomplish.
Another belief that could be limiting potential is not trying something new because it’s just too hard and “it won’t work”. How do you know unless you try? Success takes hard work. Nothing comes easily. You shouldn’t avoid trying something new just because it’s too hard and you’re convinced in your mind that it won’t work. Be open to new possibilities and be willing to look at new ways of doing things.
Analyzing beliefs that are limiting potential and more importantly getting rid of them, can unlock new opportunities and truly help you to revitalize your business for 2022.
Find inspiration and align with like-minded experts
We could all use some inspiration in our lives especially when it comes to business. This is why it’s important to find those that inspire you and reach-out to align with these like-minded experts. If you have a vision of where you want your business to be, familiarize yourself with experts who share that vision. This will give you the inspiration you need to make your ideas become a reality. I don’t know about you, but I would much rather do business with those that are like-minded and that I like! So… who are your new Fabulous Five that you will align with in 2022?
